ABA Telehealth Services

two people benefit from telehealth virtual counseling for autismMillions of children nationwide have been diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and other developmental challenges. However, whether due to location, cost, or the child’s care needs, it is not always possible to physically go to a treatment center for the treatment the child requires. If this is the case, finding telehealth virtual ABA treatment services may be an excellent treatment option.

Through telehealth services at Breakthrough ABA, parents and children can find treatment, education, and the additional support they need. Breakthrough ABA is proud to provide online ABA treatment services in Houston and the state of Texas at large, as well as internationally. A telehealth session is a method of providing ABA treatment via computer or cellphone technologies. Through this mode of treatment, the parent and child will be in their home, while a treatment provider will be in the physical treatment center or another location. These virtual sessions use HIPAA-compliant software, protecting the privacy of the family.

At times, seeking treatment at a traditional brick-and-mortar ABA treatment center is not the right step for finding treatment for the child. For instance, the parent may not find a location near the home at a cost that they can afford. Furthermore, while Breakthrough ABA does provide treatment in the home, the parent may not be comfortable inviting outsiders into the home for various reasons. If this is the case, a telehealth virtual ABA treatment program may be the proper treatment for the child.

Through this service, the Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBA) at Breakthrough ABA can provide behavior management strategies and parent education to the family in the moment.

What to Expect in an Individual Therapy Programs

During the telehealth services at Breakthrough ABA, Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs) will work with the child to help them address their unique areas of need. At the same time, the Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBA) will supervise their treatment, observing the child to ensure that they are progressively learning and developing new skills. This supervision will occur at regular intervals, often between 4 to 8 hours each month. They will also offer program reviews and updates, observe the child in various settings, train both the parents and the child’s teacher, if applicable, and attend parent and school meetings.

The one-on-one approach to telehealth services offers a range of benefits, including:

  • The parents will always be involved in treatment.
  • The Breakthrough ABA team can work collaboratively with members of the child’s community, allowing parents to understand the child’s needs in a range of settings.
  • The child will be engaged in a fun, structured environment.
  • The BCBA will be able to offer ongoing modifications to the child’s program to enhance and sustain the child’s engagement, motivation, and learning abilities.
  • The RBT will deliver the most effective intervention possible based on the child’s unique needs and under the supervision of the BCBA.
  • The team can promptly address negative or challenging behaviors.
  • The team can assist in planning transitions and preparing the child for entering school.

Do not put off getting treatment for a child because of cost or location. Telehealth services from Breakthrough ABA can provide the support a child needs to unlock their potential.
